The Denver Community Active Living Coalition is a diverse group of community members dedicated to advocating for “equitable access to safe and vibrant places to walk, bike, roll, ride transit, and play.” As members of the Athmar Park community and in collaboration with the Active Living Coalition, advocates came together to rethink an underutilized section of the neighborhood and are working with stakeholders and volunteers including the property owner (Excel) and the City to design and realize a linear park. This stretch of land fills in a missing link providing safe walking access to neighborhood elementary schools, churches, and green space.
